FLPR RECEIVES GRANT

July 23, 2015 - We are very pleased to announce that the Distribution Committee of the Greater Lynchburg Community Trust has approved a grant to the Friends of Lynchburg Parks and Recreation (FLPR) in the amount of $2,800.00 from The Trails Fund and The Sackett-Graves Fund.

The grant award will be used to purchase two benches which will be installed along the Creekside Trail extension, which is a new trail component of the City's Blackwater Creek Trail network that will run from Blackwater Creek Athletic Area to Lynchburg College. The City of Lynchburg will install the benches.

This is exciting news for us as we look forward to the completion of this project and toward pursuing other P&R improvement projects in the future.

P&R APPRECIATION BREAKFAST

Thanks to the FLPR members that were able to assist with the P&R appreciation breakfast held on April 22, 2015.  A great breakfast was provided in the community room of the Miller Center.  This was a wonderful opportunity for us to express our appreciation to the many employees of Lynchburg P&R.
MILLER CENTER OPEN HOUSE A HUGE SUCCESS!

January 24 turned out to be a terrific day at the Miller Center.  The open house during the day was well attended.  Many groups performed and others had an opportunity to tour the newly renovated building.  Refreshments, crafts, and band performances made for a great day.

The benefit concert that evening was sold out and everyone had a fantastic time. Both Apple Butter Soul and the EbonyBlue Band rocked the house to a capacity auditorium.

Friends of Lynchburg Parks and Recreation would like to thank the many people who made this event such a great success!
